This project is a joint effort of the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo Military Support Group, Jim Vanderbleak and Conner MacFariana. Jim is the creator and builder of the 370 plus crosses to honor the Florida soldiers who have dies while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Conner is completing his Eagle Scout Service Project by making and placing grapevine wreaths on each cross., including the cross of this father who dies in Afghanistan in 2012.
A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27 beginning at 10:00am. The Presentation of Colors will precede a short program in memory of an to honor all U.S. Service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect our freedom. Conner and his fellow Scouts will conclude the program by placing the wreaths and the crosses.
You are invited to walk amidst the crosses as our community pays their respect and to honor these Fallen Floridian Soldiers.
