Karing Hands Wildlife Refuge, a Central Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native Florida wildlife, will host its first annual Karing Hands Wildlife Classic charity golf tournament on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, Florida. The morning scramble will bring together Seminole County businesses, golfers, and wildlife supporters for a day of golf and community in support of the refuge's growing rescue, medical care, and education work. A young refuge with a growing caseload Founded and directed by longtime rehabilitator Karen Roe, Karing Hands provides hands-on care for orphaned, injured, and displaced squirrels, opossums, cottontail rabbits, and armadillos across Seminole and Orange Counties. Roe brings more than fifteen years of supervised wildlife rehabilitation experience to the organization, which was formally incorporated as a nonprofit at the end of 2025. Every dollar raised at the Classic funds direct animal care — specialized formula for neonatal patients, medications and wound care, safe housing and enclosures, veterinary partnerships, and the construction of a dedicated outdoor intake building that will let Karing Hands safely expand the number of animals it can serve. A community rallying behind Central Florida's wildlife The tournament reflects a broader movement of Seminole County businesses, trades, and residents stepping up for a young local nonprofit. Karing Hands is actively seeking chamber members, small businesses, design and construction partners, and family-owned companies to join the inaugural Classic as sponsors, foursomes, and in-kind donors — with recognition ranging from course signage to featured event branding.
