6th Annual 5K "Teal Ribbon Run/Walk"
Description
This Mother’s Day -- May 11th, 2014 -- the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida will host its 6th annual 5K “Teal Ribbon Run/Walk” at the Oviedo Mall. Along with benefitting a very important cause, this event provides an opportunity to pay tribute to our mothers and their memories
We run/walk because:
OCAFs Annual Teal Ribbon Run raises funds that allow us to continue to work toward a world without gynecological cancers. It also allows us to honor the courageous fight that women like those featured below face every day.
There are a number of ways you can join us in the fight against ovarian and other gynecological cancers:
We hope that you will join us on Mother’s Day, along with people like Todd and his three sons, who run in memory of his wife and their mother; and Mary, who runs because the event makes her feel close to her mom, who she lost years ago.
With great hope for women and girls,
We run/walk because:
- About 80,000 women are diagnosed with a gynecological cancer in the US – one every seven minutes.
- The five year survival rate for ovarian cancer is only 44%, as compared to 90% for breast cancer.
- Girls have been diagnosed as young as 7 years old.
- Educating doctors and nurses so women are not misdiagnosed.
- Creating awareness among women and girls of the subtle symptoms of gynecologic cancers.
- By sponsoring the 2014 Mother’s Day Teal Ribbon Run.
- By forming a fundraising team with your company.
- By attending the event with your team and as a partner of OCAF.
We hope that you will join us on Mother’s Day, along with people like Todd and his three sons, who run in memory of his wife and their mother; and Mary, who runs because the event makes her feel close to her mom, who she lost years ago.
With great hope for women and girls,
