Join us at our 2019 Legislative Update on Thursday, July 11th 2019.
Speaking for us at this luncheon will be members from the Florida House of Representatives.
David Smith was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018. He represents the citizens of Florida House District 28. The district covers most of Seminole County and includes Geneva, Chuluota, Winter Springs, Oviedo and parts of Casselberry, Longwood and Sanford. He is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel and lives in Winter Springs. For the last ten years he has worked in Central Florida's Simulation and Training industry. He currently owns a business consulting company.
Joy Goff-Marcil Representative Joy Goff-Marcil was born and raised in FL House District 30. She holds a Bachelors degree from Florida State University and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson College of Law. She practices wills and probate, and has been married to Dr. Richard Marcil, a Counselling Psychologist, for 25 years. Together they have three children who have been raised in the district. Joy served two terms on the Maitland City Council and was elected by her peers to serve as Vice Mayor in 2017. She was elected in November 2018 to proudly serve the people of Florida House District 30.
Scott Plakon is a Republican politician who currently serves as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 29th District, which includes parts of Heathrow, Lake Mary, Longwood, and Sanford in western Seminole County, since 2014, previously representing the 37th District from 2008 to 2012.
Moderator: Chris Dawson of GrayRobinson Law Firm- Chris is an attorney and professional lobbyist in the firm’s Orlando office licensed to practice law in both Florida and Alabama. He primarily focuses on lobbying and government relations for public and private sector clients at the executive and legislative levels of state government, as well as before political subdivisions of the state, including counties, cities, airport authorities, transportation authorities, port authorities, school districts, and water management districts. He is credentialed as a Designated Professional Lobbyist by the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists. Chris also holds two degrees in civil engineering and has experience in construction litigation and design professional malpractice defense.
